Tesla T Symbol Download (SVG, PDF, EPS, AI, PNG)
Download the Tesla T symbol in SVG, PDF, EPS, AI, and PNG formats for free — each file available as a separate download. This is the standalone “T” emblem used on Tesla’s vehicles, app icon, and branding, independent of the full wordmark.
The symbol is often mistaken for a simple stylized initial, but Elon Musk has explained that its shape is meant to represent a cross-section of an electric motor: the top curved bar stands in for the air gap, while the vertical leg represents the motor’s stator. Despite this explanation, the abstract shape has invited plenty of alternative readings over the years, with people comparing it to everything from a cat’s nose to Thor’s hammer.
From 2003 to 2017, the T sat inside a metallic shield alongside the full “TESLA MOTORS” wordmark, a design meant to evoke the safety and tradition common to automotive badges. In 2017, Tesla dropped “Motors” from its name and removed the shield entirely, letting the T stand on its own as a clean, minimal mark — a shift that better matched the brand’s positioning as a technology company rather than a traditional automaker. Design agency RO Studio, also responsible for SpaceX’s branding, created the symbol.
The T symbol appears in red, black, or white depending on the application, with red used most often on vehicles and black or white reserved for digital interfaces and print.
Each format (SVG, EPS, AI, PDF) can be downloaded individually depending on your design software, and the transparent PNG is ready for quick use in documents, presentations, and mockups.
