Sheffield FC, founded in 1857 and recognized by FIFA as the oldest football club still in existence, unveiled the new badge on June 30, 2026. It replaces the gold, black, and red shield the club had worn since 2007, swapping it for a stripped-back circular crest built around stylized “S,” “F,” and “C” initials and the club’s founding year. The club said the redesign was inspired by its unique status as a holder of FIFA’s Order of Merit and the gold medal awarded in recognition of its place in football history, and framed the change as one more badge in a long line the club has worn since 1857.

The new crest arrived under incoming chairman Jon McClure, frontman of the band Reverend and the Makers, who took a minority stake in the club in March 2026. The redesign drew a mostly negative reaction from fans and design commentators online, with many describing it as a downgrade that stripped away the character of the club’s traditional badge, though some supporters welcomed it as a clean, modern evolution. Two days after the reveal, Sheffield FC also announced a new kit deal with Adidas and Pro Direct.
