The SF Pro Display download includes 18 OTF styles: nine weights from Ultralight to Black, each with a matching italic. Its tighter spacing suits larger interface titles and headings.
SF Pro Text is drawn for smaller interface text, with more open spacing that helps letters remain distinct. The download page offers Roman and Italic packages, with weights from Light to Heavy.
SF Pro Rounded softens the terminals and corners of SF Pro’s letterforms. The download includes nine upright OTF weights, from Ultralight to Black.
SF Pro Variable provides adjustable weight and optical size in compatible design software. Roman and Italic are separate downloads, with multiple weights contained in each variable font.
SF Mono gives letters, numbers and punctuation the same horizontal space. The OTF download includes 12 styles: Light, Regular, Medium, Semibold, Bold and Heavy, each with a matching italic.
SF Pro Display vs SF Pro Text
Display and Text have different spacing and vertical proportions. Apple’s original size guidance for the separate static fonts is:
| Version | Size reference | Spacing |
|---|---|---|
| SF Pro Text | Below 20 pt | More open |
| SF Pro Display | 20 pt and above | Tighter |
At the same point size, Text appears slightly larger and more open. Its proportions help small interface text remain readable.
SF Pro Variable vs Static Fonts
Static fonts store each style in a separate file. Variable SF Pro allows intermediate weight settings and adjusts its drawing through optical sizing. If your design application provides an Optical Size slider, match it to the text size within its supported range.
