Netflix introduced its current wordmark in 2014, replacing the older white lettering, black shadow and red background with a much simpler red logo. The redesign preserved the distinctive curved baseline of the previous identity while creating a flatter and more flexible mark better suited to streaming interfaces, apps and digital advertising.

The 2014 brand redesign was developed during Netflix’s transition into a global streaming company, with Moving Brands involved in reshaping the identity. Netflix later worked with New York studio Gretel and its internal Global Brand Team to build a broader visual system around the logo, including the flexible “Stack” concept used across campaigns and content.

In 2016, Netflix introduced the standalone red “N” symbol as a compact alternative for apps, social media and other small-format applications. The full Netflix wordmark remains an official part of the identity, while the N is now the preferred symbol in markets where the brand is already widely recognized.
