The Los Angeles Clippers introduced their current logo in February 2024 as part of a complete brand refresh for the team’s move to Intuit Dome. The new emblem places a clipper ship inside a compass-inspired “C,” with basketball seam lines incorporated into the ship’s hull, creating a direct visual connection to the franchise name for the first time in decades.
The identity was developed by the Clippers’ creative team, with Creative Director Tarek Awad working as a designer on the project and Matthew Wolff contributing to the typography. The system also brought back a modernized version of the classic Clippers script alongside a palette of naval blue, ember red and Pacific blue.
The nautical theme reaches back to 1978, when the franchise moved from Buffalo to San Diego and adopted the Clippers name after the fast sailing ships associated with San Diego Bay. The 2024 redesign finally makes that history explicit, combining the ship with a compass to represent both the team’s origins and a new direction as it entered the Intuit Dome era.
