Kia introduced its current logo on January 6, 2021, replacing the familiar oval badge with a connected, angular wordmark designed to resemble a handwritten signature. The identity was developed by Munich-based design studio BLACKSPACE, with designer Michael Keller leading the logo work as part of a wider collaboration involving Kia and Innocean.

The continuous line is built around three ideas Kia calls symmetry, rhythm and rising. Symmetry represents confidence, the flowing rhythm suggests constant movement, and the upward strokes express the brand’s ambition to move forward. The redesign also coincided with Kia Motors changing its corporate name to simply Kia and adopting the “Movement that inspires” brand slogan.

The logo had an unusually dramatic debut: Kia used 303 pyrotechnic drones to draw the new mark in the sky above Incheon, South Korea. The launch set a Guinness World Record for the most unmanned aerial vehicles launching fireworks simultaneously.
