Expletus Sans has one of the most charming backstories in the Google Fonts library: it was designed by a teenager. Jasper de Waard, born in 1996, drew it in his early teens and saw it added to Google Web Fonts in 2011 — making him one of the youngest designers ever published on the platform. De Waard released Expletus Sans through Designtown, his own project label, around 2009–2011.
