Ekşi Sözlük’s identity is built around its lowercase wordmark and distinctive green drop symbol, both closely associated with the platform since its early years. The green drop dates back to the site’s beginnings in 1999 and became particularly recognizable as Ekşi Sözlük’s favicon.
The most notable recent change to the wordmark came in 2016, when the earlier Curlz MT lettering was replaced by the cleaner Source Sans Pro typeface. The update gave the brand a simpler and more contemporary appearance while retaining the lowercase name and familiar green color. No individual designer has been publicly credited for the current logo.
Ekşi Sözlük itself launched on February 15, 1999, founded by Sedat Kapanoğlu as part of the Sourtimes project. An interesting detail is that the green drop has survived multiple interface and typography changes, making it one of the longest-running visual elements associated with a Turkish online platform.
