The Dolce & Gabbana identity is built around its distinctive wordmark and the initials of founders Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. The full Dolce&Gabbana wordmark has remained remarkably consistent since the fashion house emerged in 1985, using a restrained black typographic treatment that contrasts with the brand’s often elaborate and expressive fashion.

In 2021, Dolce&Gabbana introduced a new interlocking “DG” monogram, combining the founders’ initials into a compact geometric symbol. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana founded their fashion house in Milan in 1985 and presented their first collection in October of that year. An earlier “D&G” identity was also used for the company’s younger diffusion line, but that line was later merged into the main Dolce&Gabbana brand. Today, the full wordmark and intertwined DG monogram represent the unified luxury house across fashion, accessories, beauty and lifestyle products.
