The Denver Nuggets introduced their current primary logo on June 6, 2018, as part of a major refresh of the team’s logos, colors and uniforms. The circular emblem combines crossed pickaxes, Rocky Mountain peaks and a basketball, connecting the franchise directly to Colorado’s landscape and historic mining culture.
The 2018 identity was developed by the Kroenke Sports & Entertainment creative team led by Kelley Kocher, with the Nuggets marketing team and branding agency Translation also involved in the wider rebrand. Rather than creating an entirely new symbol, the team modernized the crossed-pickaxe logo that had already been used as an alternate mark since the 2005–06 season.
This makes the current logo both a redesign and a promotion of an older symbol. The pickaxes reference the prospectors behind Colorado’s mining history, while the mountain peaks reinforce Denver’s connection to the Rocky Mountains. The 2018 update also introduced a darker navy, gold and red palette designed to bring several eras of Nuggets branding together.
