The current Calvin Klein logo uses a simple black wordmark with capital “C” and “K” initials followed by lowercase lettering. Introduced in 2020, the design marked a return to the minimalist mixed-case identity associated with the brand for much of its history, replacing the all-uppercase logo used during the previous three years.
Calvin Klein had made one of its most visible identity changes in 2017, when Chief Creative Officer Raf Simons collaborated with graphic designer Peter Saville on an all-uppercase CALVIN KLEIN wordmark. Described at the time as a return to the spirit of the original brand, the design used tighter spacing and a stronger typographic presence. The identity was retired in 2020 when Calvin Klein returned to a mixed-case wordmark.
The company was founded in New York in 1968 by designer Calvin Klein and his business partner Barry Schwartz. Its restrained typography and black-and-white branding became closely associated with the minimalist aesthetic that defined Calvin Klein across fashion, denim, underwear and fragrance. The brand was acquired by PVH Corp. in 2003.
