Burberry Logo Download (AI, PDF, SVG, PNG)
Download the Burberry logo in AI, PDF, SVG and PNG formats. This package includes the black Burberry wordmark as scalable vector artwork and a transparent PNG version. Introduced as part of the house’s refreshed identity in 2023, the logo replaces the stark sans-serif lettering used during the previous era with a more distinctive serif design connected to Burberry’s British heritage.
The Design of the Burberry Logo
The Burberry wordmark is composed entirely of uppercase serif lettering. Tall characters, moderate contrast between thick and thin strokes, and sharply finished terminals give the logo a formal but expressive appearance. Its proportions are relatively narrow, allowing the eight-letter name to remain compact without making the individual characters feel compressed.
Several letters give the wordmark its recognisable rhythm. The two “B” characters use broad rounded bowls against strong vertical stems, while the repeated “R” forms introduce prominent diagonal legs through the centre and right side of the composition. The “U” provides a softer curved opening between them, and the wide upper arms of the final “Y” create a clear finish at the end of the name.
The lettering has more variation and historical character than the geometric sans-serif Burberry logo introduced in 2018. Rather than relying on uniform strokes and neutral spacing, the current wordmark uses serif details and subtle differences between curves, diagonals and vertical forms. This gives it a stronger editorial quality suited to fashion campaigns, packaging, store graphics and product labels.
The Return to Burberry’s Heritage
Burberry introduced a simplified sans-serif identity in 2018 under creative director Riccardo Tisci, with graphic designer Peter Saville developing the wordmark and the interlocking “TB” monogram. That system moved the brand toward the minimal typography adopted by many luxury fashion houses during the same period.
When Daniel Lee became chief creative officer, Burberry changed direction again. The serif wordmark unveiled in 2023 brought a more traditional and recognisably British tone back to the identity. It was introduced alongside the revived Equestrian Knight Design, reconnecting the contemporary brand with one of its oldest visual symbols.
The Equestrian Knight Design
The Burberry wordmark provided on this page should not be confused with the Equestrian Knight Design, often shortened to EKD. The historic emblem depicts an armoured knight riding a horse while carrying a shield and a lance. A banner attached to the lance carries the Latin word “Prorsum,” meaning “forward.”
The original Equestrian Knight Design was selected through a public competition around 1901. Burberry describes the knight as representing honour, the shield as protection and the lance as reform. The emblem and the wordmark can appear together in the wider identity, but they also function as separate brand assets.
Available Logo Formats
The AI file is intended for editing in Adobe Illustrator and compatible vector software. SVG preserves clean edges in websites and responsive digital layouts, while PDF is useful for print production and document workflows.
