Blinker Font Family Free Download

Blinker is what happens when a sans-serif is built on a squircle — the shape that lives halfway between a square and a circle. The result feels technical yet friendly, like a dashboard font with a sense of humor. This download includes the full 8-weight family, from Thin to Black.

Eurostile’s Flamboyant Cousin

Blinker was designed in 2019 by Jürgen Huber of supertype, the Berlin-based foundry, and released open-source through Google Fonts. Its official description remains one of the best one-liners in the Google Fonts library: “think squarish curves, or Eurostile’s flamboyant cousin.” The comparison is apt. Like Eurostile — the 1962 Italian classic behind decades of sci-fi interfaces — Blinker builds its letters on squared-off curves and low stroke contrast. Unlike Eurostile, however, it loosens the rigidity with rounder joins and friendlier proportions, trading the retro-futurist chill for something more approachable.

The family also ships with a clever specialist: a dedicated Headline weight. It carries an extra-large x-height, tighter spacing, and narrower glyphs — drawn specifically so short, loud copy can pack maximum presence into limited space. The whole family covers an extended Latin glyph set, and the project remains open for contributions on GitHub.

Where Blinker Fits

Blinker was built for medium-to-large text rather than long paragraphs, and that’s exactly where it performs. Its squircle geometry gives interfaces, dashboards, and product sites a subtly technical voice — automotive, gaming, and tech branding are natural homes. The lighter weights suit clean UI labels and elegant headings. Meanwhile, Bold through Black, and especially the Headline cut, handle posters, banners, and thumbnails where the type needs to shout a little. For body copy, pair it with a reading-first workhorse like Open Sans, Lato, or Inter.
