The AWS logo combines a lowercase “aws” wordmark with the curved smile inherited from Amazon’s broader visual identity. The current version retains this familiar structure in a simplified monochrome treatment, creating a compact mark that works consistently across cloud services, technical documentation, events and digital interfaces.
AWS previously used the same dark wordmark with a contrasting orange smile. The identity was refreshed in 2025 as Amazon introduced a broader global brand system designed to create greater consistency across its large family of products and services. The fundamental AWS silhouette remained recognizable, while the typography, smile and color treatment were brought closer to the updated Amazon visual system.
Amazon Web Services launched as a cloud infrastructure platform in 2006, beginning with services including Amazon S3 for scalable storage and Amazon EC2 for on-demand computing capacity. AWS has since expanded into a broad platform covering compute, storage, databases, networking, analytics, artificial intelligence and other cloud technologies.
