The current ASUS wordmark dates back to 1995, when the company’s earlier identity was simplified into the angular, tightly spaced lettering still associated with the brand today. Its most distinctive feature is the horizontal cut running through the upper portion of the letters, giving the otherwise simple wordmark a technical and futuristic appearance.
The core corporate logo has remained remarkably consistent for more than three decades, with later changes largely limited to color and application. No individual designer has been reliably credited for the 1995 wordmark, and official assets attribute the identity to ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
The ASUS name itself comes from “Pegasus,” the winged horse of Greek mythology. The company adopted the final four letters of the name, which ASUS says represent the strength, creativity and spirit of the mythological figure. ASUS was founded in Taiwan in 1989 and initially focused on motherboard development before expanding into computers, components, displays and other consumer technology.
