Abstract Geometric Background Generator for Illustrator — Download Free
Abstract Geometric Background Generator is a free Adobe Illustrator JSX script for creating bold, halftone-textured geometric backgrounds and posters. It builds compositions from large color blocks, halftone dot fades, diagonal stripe patches, dot grids, capsule outlines and plus-sign accents — all as fully editable vector artwork.
Instead of producing a flat image, the script generates real Illustrator objects organized into layers, so every shape, dot and stripe stays editable after generation.
A bold, pop-art geometric style
The look leans into the visual language of retro pop-art and Memphis-style graphic design: oversized overlapping circles, halftone dot fades instead of flat gradients, diagonal stripe patches, and small geometric accents scattered across the frame. It’s a punchier, more energetic cousin of minimal geometric design — built for posters, banners and social graphics that need to grab attention.
Works at any canvas size
The composition is generated relative to your active artboard, so it adapts to whatever size document you’re working in. If no document is open when you run the script, it creates a 3840 × 2160px canvas automatically — ready to use as a widescreen background, banner or wallpaper.
Every generation is unique
A randomized seed drives shape placement, sizing and pattern details, so clicking Generate again — even with identical settings — produces a fresh composition. Keep generating until you land on a layout you like, then fine-tune it by hand.
Included composition styles

Diagonal Energy
A directional composition built around large overlapping circles and diagonal stripe/capsule accents.

Large Circle Focus
Centers the composition on two or three dominant circles with halftone fades and smaller supporting accents.

Editorial Scatter
Distributes multiple mid-sized circles and pattern patches across the frame for a busier, editorial-collage feel.

Pattern Heavy
Leans into dot grids, stripe patches and capsule outlines alongside the main shapes for maximum texture.

Minimal Accent
A quieter layout with one or two focal circles and light accent detailing — best when you want restraint.
Features Preview

Density control
A Low / Medium / High density setting controls how many small circles, rings, dashes, plus signs and pattern patches are layered on top of the core composition — from a clean, sparse result to a densely detailed one.
Color palette options

Yellow Red Black

Primary Pop

Warm Cream

Mono Yellow

Red Accent

Pixelbag Dark
Five built-in palette presets are included: Yellow Red Black, Primary Pop, Warm Cream, Mono Yellow and Red Accent. Selecting a preset fills in six color fields — Background, Yellow, Red, Dark, Blue and Soft — as plain hex values, which you can also edit manually for full custom control over the palette.
Pattern and texture options
Toggle individual detail layers on or off: halftone texture inside the large circles, striped circle patches, dot grid patches, long capsule outlines, and scattered plus-sign accents. An additional option automatically clears previously generated Pixelbag layers before each run, so you can regenerate cleanly without manual cleanup.
How to Install the Illustrator Script
After downloading the Abstract Geometric Background Generator, unzip the file and copy the .jsx script into your Adobe Illustrator Scripts folder.
On macOS, the folder is usually located here:
Applications > Adobe Illustrator [version] > Presets.localized > en_US > Scripts
On Windows, the folder is usually located here:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator [version]\Presets\en_US\Scripts
If your Illustrator installation uses a different language, the en_US folder may have another name. Open the Presets or Presets.localized folder and look for the language folder that contains the Scripts directory.
After copying the file, restart Adobe Illustrator. You can then run the script from:
File > Scripts > Abstract Geometric Background Generator
If you do not want to install the script permanently, you can also run it manually from:
